An individual believed to be a member of a criminal gang was arrested by operatives from the Taguig City Police Station Intelligence Section in an anti-criminality operation at Taguig City.
Initial reports disclosed that the arrest of alias Joseph — allegedly a member of the Kelly Calauad Dongalo Robbery Group — took place on Sunday night at Banai Compound, Purok 6 in Barangay Lower Bicutan.
Police said that the group is responsible for robberies and car thefts in Taguig and neighboring cities and provinces.
The operation was conducted in response to an intelligence report received from a concerned citizen who reported the presence of a suspected criminal gang member, allegedly in possession of a small firearm.
Upon arrival, the suspect brandished the firearm, leading to his immediate arrest and confiscation of an improvised revolver loaded with one M16 ammunition.
Verification of pertinent documents revealed the suspect failed to provide a valid gun ban exemption from Comelec.
The suspect was taken into custody for violating Republic Act 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, as well as the Omnibus Election Code.
A request for firearm verification and examination was also submitted to the Firearms and Explosives Office of the National Capital Region Police Office.
Records also indicated that the suspect has a prior criminal record related to a case of Robbery in relation to RA 7610.
