Senator Christopher "Bong" Go this week pushed the passage of Senate Bill 197, or the Magna Carta for Barangays; and SBN 427, or the Barangay Health Workers Compensation Act.
Go said the proposed Magna Carta aims to bolster support for barangays, enabling their officials to effectively carry out their responsibilities by according to them the same treatment as regular government employees.
SBN 427, if passed into law, would entitle barangay officials to salaries, benefits, allowances and other related perks.
The senator pushed the two bills during his visit to Babak District. He personally recognized barangay health workers as the backbone of healthcare in the country.
During the event, Go was also joined by Councilor Sonny Lanorias, BHW City Coordinator Christine Enriquez Lara, BHW District Federation president Alicia Sastrillas, and district coordinator Arlene Pacquaio, among others.
