The Bellevue Manila has entered into a partnership with the city government of Muntinlupa and the Department of Agriculture Extension Services Office to spearhead urban farming, environmental stewardship and responsible practices within Muntinlupa through the cultivation of a rooftop garden.
The signing of the memorandum of agreement at the Tower Wing Ballroom of The Bellevue Manila on 30 September 2023 was graced by Muntinlupa City Mayor Ruffy Biazon; DA-ESO Muntinlupa head Marilou Lobo; Bellevue Manila Green Committee chairperson Mark Castillo; and Bellevue Manila general manager Mavic Recio.
This partnership "signifies our collective commitment to a greener, more sustainable future," Castillo said. "Together, we'll cultivate positive change, one seed at a time."
The Bellevue Manila's rooftop garden supports the hotel's farm-to-table concept aimed at sustainable dining. Situated above the bustling city, this thriving garden not only adds to the hotel's scenic charm but plays a pivotal role in supplying fresh, organic produce directly to its restaurants.
The carefully nurtured crops make a swift and direct transition from garden to kitchen, allowing guests to relish dishes crafted from the day's harvest. The rooftop garden also helps The Bellevue Manila reduce its carbon footprint, support local agriculture and offer eco-conscious dining.
"We believe in the power of collective action and envision a future where sustainable practices are an integral part of our daily lives," Recio said.
