PCG: No fatalities in Batangas vessel fire

In its report, the PCG said that no fatalities or injuries were recorded after the Motor Tanker Sea Horse caught fire around 9 a.m. at Alpha Anchorage Area, Batangas.
"Personnel of Coast Guard Station Batangas received a phone call from the Vessel Traffic Management System-Batangas informing that there was a fire at sea in waters around Batangas Anchorage Area. Immediately, CGS Batangas coordinated with the Bureau of Fire Protection and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office to request assistance in the conduct of firefighting at the said incident," the PCG report said.
It added that the PCG in Batangas launched a search and rescue operation to render necessary aid, while three tugboats — Motor Tug Great Lark, Motor Tug Sedar 7 and Motor Tug Sedar 8 — which were near the fire scene promptly assisted the stranded ship with firefighting capability.

Around 11:08 a.m., the distressed vessel was declared fire out.
Assessment and further investigation are being done at Coast Guard Sub Station Batangas City.
The Marine Environmental Protection Group Batangas coordinated with Petron Company for a standby oil spill boom in preparation for a possible oil spill response.
