Senator Christopher "Bong" Go, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, congratulated the local government of Initao, Misamis Oriental, as well as the Department of Health, for the successful groundbreaking ceremony of the town's Super Health Center last Tuesday, 10 October.
Advocated for by Go, the Super Health Centers aim to provide primary healthcare, medical consultations, and early disease detection, thereby enhancing the healthcare infrastructure in the grassroots, particularly in rural areas.
Go, who is actively pushing for the creation of more such facilities in key locations nationwide as identified by DoH, said the centers will help alleviate overcrowding in hospitals.
In a video message, Go conveyed his optimism that the newly initiated health center would make accessible primary healthcare services to the people of Initao.
Through the collective efforts of fellow lawmakers, sufficient funds have been allocated for 307 Super Health Centers in 2022 and 322 in 2023. DoH, the lead implementing agency, identifies the strategic areas where they will be constructed.
The Super Health Center is an enhanced version of a rural health unit, offering basic health services such as database management, outpatient care, birthing facilities, isolation areas, diagnostic services (including laboratory tests, X-rays, and ultrasounds), pharmacy services, and ambulatory surgical units.
In another development, Go, in coordination with Macabalan Barangay Captain Norbel Saa, provided assistance to 37 recovering fire victims at Barangay Macabalan Hall in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental last Monday, 9 October.
The affected families received financial assistance, grocery packs, water containers, shirts, masks, vitamins, snacks, and balls for basketball and volleyball.
The senator, in coordination with Mayor Erick Canosa, likewise assisted seven fire victims in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental last Tuesday, 10 October.
Held at the Negosyo Center Ground, Go's team provided shirts, masks, vitamins, snacks, and balls for basketball and volleyball. There is also a select recipient of a pair of shoes from the senator.
The National Housing Authority, through the Emergency Housing Assistance Program which Go advocated for and continues to support, also provided financial assistance for housing materials to the victims.
Meanwhile, in Silay City, Negros Occidental, Go, in coordination with Mayor Joedith Gallego, provided additional assistance to disadvantaged workers also Tuesday. This initiative is part of his broader efforts to help expedite economic recovery in communities through the provision of livelihood opportunities.
During the relief operation at the Silay City Public Plaza covered court, Go's team provided masks, vitamins, shirts, and snacks to 190 affected workers. Select recipients also received shoes, watches, mobile phones, and balls for basketball and volleyball.
