SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Eight former rebels recently surrendered to authorities in Central Luzon, PRO3 regional director P/Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. said over the weekend.
The former insurgents, who chose to lay down their arms and turn themselves over to authorities in Bataan, Olongapo, Tarlac and Pampanga, included those associated with the Anakpawis Bulacan Chapter, Gabriela, Bagong Hukbong Bayan, and UGMO (Underground Mass Organization).
The government has committed to supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of the former rebels into society, ensuring they have access to education, job training, and various essential services, the police official said.
