Two men were arrested Sunday afternoon for allegedly violating the election gun ban at a checkpoint set up in Pasig City.
The suspects were identified as alias Jonathan, 21; and alias Jerwin, 32; both residents of Baranga Sto. Domingo, Cainta, Rizal.
The Comelec checkpoint was along Amang Rodriguez Avenue, Barangay Santolan, Pasig City. Authorities noticed the suspicious behavior of the two while walking near the checkpoint.
Eventually, when the duo were subjected to a pat down check, the arresting officer saw something protruding in the waist of alias Jonathan. Apparently, they immediately held Jonathan for verification and saw a firearm tuck in his waist.
Said firearm was described as one-unit Armscor 9mm caliber inserted with magazine loaded with five ammunition. Jonathan failed to present any documents to possess said firearm.
Alias Jerwin, on the other hand, was seen throwing a kitchen knife at a nearby place which resulted in his arrest and recovery of the evidence.
The two suspects are facing charges for violations of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and BP 6 in relation to the Omnibus Election Code.
