Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. has strengthened its efforts to empower Filipino communities through its Hyundai Accelerate initiative. In a recent development, four Pasig City scholars have embarked on a comprehensive 12-month Industrial Skills Training Program.

The curriculum, affiliated with Don Bosco Makati's Technical-Vocational Education and Training, aims to equip students with pivotal industry skills.

This development makes Pasig City the second beneficiary of Hyundai's scholarship program, preceded by a successful collaboration with the Department of Education Taguig and Pateros.

A ceremonial event in August, set in the People's Hall, marked the official agreement's signing. Key figures at the event included HMPH's top brass — Dong Wook Lee, the company's President; Cecil Capacete, managing director; and Hong Shik Chin, chief finance officer.

The city's representation was just as prominent, with attendees like Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski Jr., Councilor Volta Delos Santos, Councilor Cory Raymundo, Officer-in-Charge for the Education Unit Atty. Kathleen Mae Villamin, and Executive Assistant for the Office of the Mayor, Atty Bernice Mendoza.

During the ceremony, Mr. Lee emphasized Hyundai's eagerness to bolster the educational prospects in the region, stating: "We are genuinely appreciative of the City Government of Pasig for enabling our support."

"Together, we can channel resources to nurture our youth, ensuring their access to top-tier training and resources, thereby molding them into proficient, employed individuals."

Mayor Sotto, renowned for his advocacy towards education and youth empowerment, shared his insights on the broader vision for Pasig, known for its exemplary stature as a "model city" within the Philippines.

He remarked: "A focal point of our discussions around education centers on aligning job skills with actual market requirements. It's essential to devise a robust framework, one that can offer multiple pathways towards career growth and improved living standards."

He further acknowledged the significance of Hyundai's partnership, expressing gratitude for the broader scope it brings — not just extending scholarships but assuring these students a promising future.
