BAGUIO CITY — Residents and visitors here will hear the sound of a thousand gongs on 8 October as part of the celebration of the Indigenous Peoples Month.
The 11th "Gong Festival" will start with a parade in the morning of October 8 with most of the participants garbed in traditional IP attires starting from Session Road down Harrison Road. They will converge at the Melvin Jones Football grounds of Burnham Park, Baguio City.
The festival brings together people from diverse backgrounds to foster a sense of unity and cultural pride.
Activities for the festival include a mural making event throughout the month of October.
Artists will create murals, turning the street into an artistic canvas for a wide range of creative expressions, making it an engaging and vibrant public art project.
Busking and other entertainment activities called "Salimsim" Live Performances provide a series of lively and culturally enriching public acts.
