A policeman who shot a man who engaged him in a scuffle at a beer joint in Novaliches, Quezon City, is now facing frustrated multiple charges.

A policeman who shot a man who engaged him in a scuffle at a beer joint in Novaliches, Quezon City, is now facing frustrated multiple charges.
The policeman, identified as Patrolman Edwin Rivera, is currently under the custody of the Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit.
He has been charged with murder and illegal possession of firearms in relation to the Omnibus Election Code for Gun ban.
Two of Rivera's companions, Joshua Balisalin and a John Doe, are also facing charges as a manhunt operation was launched against them.
"The suspect is in jail and has been charged with murder and illegal possession of firearms in relation to the Omnibus Election Code for Gun Ban. Among those charged with the case are two fellow police officers, Joshua Balisalin and a John doe who are still at large," said QCPD director P/Brig.Gen. Red Maranan.
To recall, Castillo said his men chanced Rivera after they were sought by Glendale Deguia and Louis Loto who were the staff of Spot Light Beer and Cocktail Launch at Barangay Nova Proper, Novaliches, Quezon City at 4:45 a.m.
Deguia and Loto witnessed the scuffle ensued between the suspect and the victim, where the suspect pulled out his handgun and shot the victim prompting them to call the police.
The prompt response of QCPD PS-4 operatives led to the arrest of the suspect and the confiscation of his issued firearm.
Maranan said that they will not tolerate such misconduct from their police officers, adding that they will remain committed to serving the people and upholding the law.
"We will not tolerate such wrongdoings by the police especially here in Quezon City. We will remain faithful in fulfilling our duty to serve the citizens," said the QCPD chief.
