NASA scientists believe that Europa, one of Jupiter's moons, could be a potential place beyond Earth to search for signs of life.

They hinted that a large saltwater ocean, which holds as much water as Earth's ocean, is likely hidden beneath the moon's icy shell.

NASA's Juno spacecraft has been studying the planet Jupiter, including its moons, rings, and asteroids, since 2016. On 29 September 2022, Juno captured an image of Europa's cracked and streaked surface at an altitude of 945 miles, NASA said.

⁣In the image, Europa's surface is partially illuminated, with brown and tan streaks carving the icy surface. Shadow envelopes the moon's left side, while black space surrounds its right side.⁣
