Commission on Higher Education chairperson Prospero de Vera III is calling on higher education institutions — including private colleges and universities — to adjust to how fast things change in the national and global landscape.
De Vera said that universities should keep up with the changing technology and educational advancement to become globally competitive.
"To our universities, we should not rest on our laurels because things change so rapidly in this world," De Vera said in his speech during the 2023 Gawad Karangalan in Dasmariñas City, Cavite over the weekend.
"The ability of our universities to continue excellence will be determined by how they can predict changes and adapt to it ahead of time," he added.
He also urged students to adapt to new things and use the newest technological tools that can help on their studies.
"The world changes very quickly, so I want to say to our students the jobs that we are having now may not be the jobs in next two to three years," De Vera said.
