A deadly encounter between the police and a hacking suspect in Laoag City resulted in the death of the latter on Sunday night, 1 October.
Initial reports from witnesses said that the hacking victim, Alex Bitagon, was slashed by John Francis Bitagon. The incident occurred in Barangay 40, Balatong.
Further, eyewitnesses in the area disclosed that Bitagon fled the crime scene but was subsequently cornered by responding police officers.
But instead of surrendering to the cops, the suspect allegedly rushed toward one of the intelligence operatives with a jungle knife. The cop, whose identity has been withheld, shot the suspect four times.
The suspect was rushed to Governor Roque Ablan Senior Memorial Hospital but was later declared dead.
