Sulu backs BWC action plan
JOLO, Sulu Province — The provincial government of Sulu has vowed to support the Bangsamoro Women Commission on the implementation of the Regional Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security 2023-2028.
Sulu Governor Abdusakur Tan recently expressed his full support for the RAPWPS as he committed to working closely with the BWC in implementing the action plan.
The governor also emphasized that it is best to coordinate with the Sulu Provincial Women Council as it aligns with their tasks.
"We are glad that the Bangsamoro Women Commission, UNDP and UN Women came here and we will support them, provided that this is coordinated with our Sulu Provincial Women Council because SPWC is a federation of women organizations throughout the province," Tan said.
RAPWPS is a joint program of the BWC, United Nations Development Programme and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women which seeks to address issues and concerns of women and girls affected by armed conflict in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
BWC chairperson Bainon Karon expressed gratitude to Tan for the support and emphasized the Commission's enthusiasm for collaborating with the provincial government of Sulu.
Recently, the BARMM has inaugurated a P3.5-million Women Multipurpose Center for the the Sulu Provincial Women Council in Barangay Poblacion, Indanan, Sulu.
Ministry of Public Works Sulu 1st District Engineering Office Engr. Ajan Ajilul said the project was funded under the Transitional Development Impact Fund 2020 of Karon, a former Member of the Parliament.
