TACLOBAN CITY — Frustrated after failing to get his coin that got stuck in a pile of sheets, a nine-year-old boy set ablaze an impounded car last 23 September.
Initial reports from the Tacloban City Police Office disclosed that the minor intentionally caused the fire using a lighter and documents found inside the vehicle.
The vehicle, a Chevrolet Captiva, has been under the custody of Highway Patrol Group 8 for a long period of time and was temporarily parked near at the HPG office located at Magsaysay Boulevard here.
The highway patrol unit has been using the vehicle storage for their office documents and other light materials.
The investigators reported no injuries and casualty and set the damage to property at P50,000.

The videos and photos caught the attention of netizens here, some of them narrating previous unpleasant experiences with the boy including forcibly snatching valuable items from them. One video shows the same boy smoking in a public place with people passing by.
The boy is now under the custody of the Tacloban City Social Welfare and Development Office where he is placed in a residential facility in the city and an intervention plan is already in place for the rehabilitation and recovery of the minor.
