Tension gripped students of De La Salle University yesterday after a portion of the Medrano Hall caught fire at about noontime along Taft Avenue in Malate, Manila.
School management, however, quickly allayed the fear of the students, faculties and parents in connection with the big smoke coming out from the Medrano hall, saying the blaze has been quickly controlled.
It was learned from DLSU safety director Roxanne Oquendo, that no one was injured or hurt among students and faculties who rushed to leave the compound.
The incident occurred at 12 p.m. when smoke coming out from the airconditioning unit caused spark on its wires.
It is expected that the DLSU Medrano Hall will be opened sooner for the use of the students.
