The Hyundai Motor Group has embarked on an initiative to exhibit a collection of art cars in various iconic locations around New York City, including Genesis House New York, to bolster Busan's candidacy for hosting the 2030 World Expo.
The public presentation coincided with the UN General Assembly High-level Week 2023 and took place from 17 to 22 September.
The convoy featured three standout models from Hyundai's fleet: the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 all-electric vehicles, along with the Electrified G80 sedan from their luxury arm, Genesis. These cars not only turned heads because of their state-of-the-art engineering but also because of their arresting designs and presence.
Renowned Korean artist Jay Flow adorned the cars with graffiti art reflecting Busan's dynamic cultural identity. The designs incorporated vivid visuals of Busan's landmarks and the slogan "Busan is Ready," offering a kaleidoscope of the South Korean city's ambiance and spirit.
The exhibition strategically positioned the cars at Genesis House New York, which is in Manhattan's Meatpacking District, an area known for its rich cultural and artistic heritage. Beyond the Genesis House, the art cars were also displayed at other eminent New York landmarks such as Times Square to amplify their visibility.
The vehicles also took a tour through the hustle and bustle of New York City's streets, providing an opportunity for global leaders attending the UN General Assembly, tourists, and even local New Yorkers to get a firsthand look at Busan's unique cultural blend, its progressive attitude, and its preparedness to host the 2030 World Expo.

The Art cars had been previously showcased in Jakarta during the ASEAN Summit and New Delhi amid G20-related events, with both initiatives generating widespread international interest and acclaim.
The artwork, seen as a creative representation of Busan's rich culture and innovation, acted as a powerful rallying point, galvanizing support for Busan's World Expo bid.
To reinforce Busan's green credentials, Hyundai is also emphasizing the city's devotion to a carbon-neutral exposition by opting for eco-friendly means of transportation for Bureau International des Expositions delegations.
