Marikina honors fallen cops

The local government of Marikina City commemorated the 36th Marikina Police Memorial Day on Sunday, where no less than Mayor Marcelino Teodoro paying tribute to the fallen members of the city's police force.

The memorial event was held at the Marikina Police Memorial Monument inside Loyola Memorial Park. Teodoro was joined by Marikina First District Representative Marjorie Ann Teodoro, Eastern Police District Director Brig. Gen. Wilson Asueta, and Marikina Police Chief Col. Earl Castilo.

Teodoro said that the memorial monument is a reminder of the selflessness and dedication of the local police, especially to those who sacrificed their lives in the name of public service.

"More than a monument, it is a reminder for those who were once sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, fathers, and mothers; it is a salute to those who chose to spend their lives in service of others until the very end," said the mayor.

In honor of their fallen comrades, members of the Marikina PNP gave a 21-gun salute during the commemoration.

Marikina's representative Maan Teodoro also expressed her gratitude to fallen members of the city's police force for offering their lives to ensure the peace and order in Marikina.

The memorial day was also attended by families of fallen police officers, city officials, members of the Philippine National Police Marikina, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail and Penology and representatives from civic organizations.
