Newly-installed Rizal police provincial director Col. Rainiero de Chavez on Saturday condemned the killing of a police officer in Taytay, Rizal last Thursday.

De Chavez also vowed justice for the slain police officer.

"We assure the grieving family that the police will take all the necessary steps to ensure that justice is served," he said.

More than financial assistance extended to the bereaved family, the Rizal PNP chief expressed his sincere condolences as well as spiritual and moral support.

Police Staff Sergeant Allan Guimpayan, who is assigned to the Taytay Municipal Police Station, was killed in a shooting incident in Taytay, Rizal early Thursday morning.

The slain policeman was eating dinner at a tapsihan and pares house at Block 7, Purok 2, Sampaguitan Avenue, C6 Road, Lupang Arenda in Barangay Sta. Ana, in this town, when he was shot by four suspects.

According to the report, after the warrant section personnel of the Taytay Municipal Police Station conducted a police operation, Guimpayan decided to have dinner at Kamunyang Tapsihan and Pares. While eating, a group of people approached him and for no apparent reason, an altercation ensued.

The suspects conspiring with one another attacked and mauled the victim prompting him to repel the attack. However, with the overwhelming force, the suspects were able to forcibly take his service firearm and shoot the victim several times.
