To achieve the goal of 320,000 visits from Filipino travelers this 2023, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau Kuala Lumpur Office and the Taiwan Amusement Park Association held a promotional conference in Manila on 2 June. It was participated in by 11 amusement parks, six travel agencies and three airline representatives from Taiwan together with some local travel agencies.
According to pre-pandemic data, about 510,000 tourists from the Philippines visited Taiwan in 2019. The record comes second to Malaysia in the ASEAN region. Taiwan's border has opened to tourists since 13 October 2022.
Amusement parks in Taiwan highlight its diverse and rich culture in addition to the night market delicacies and famed tourist destinations.
Chun-Jun Liao, chairman of the Taiwan Amusement Park Association, said that Taiwan's diverse patterns of theme parks have a considerable high potential appeal to the international market. Elements such as Taiwan's aboriginal culture, hot springs, flower viewing, shopping, and mechanical amusement facilities are a favorite of international travelers.
Some of the Taiwan amusement parks that participated in the conference are Leofoo Village Theme Park, Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, Janfusan Fancy World, Little Ding-Dong Science Theme Park, Yehliu Ocean World, Farglory Ocean Park, West Lake Resortopia, Atayal Resort, Sun-Link-Sea Forest & Nature Resort, Shangshun World and E-DA Theme Park. Well-known Taiwanese souvenirs brand Vigor Kobo and pineapple cake OhBear also took part in the festivities.
