Daily TribuneEthiopian athlete Lamecha Girma shattered the 25-year-old world record in a 3,000-meter run on Wednesday by more than one second at the Lieven meeting.
Girma clocked 7 minutes and 23.81 seconds to better the old mark of 7 minutes and 24.90 seconds set by Kenya's Daniel Komen in Budapest in February 1998.
