
The Department of Transportation has announced that free rides will be provided to Metro Rail Transit 3 passengers today to commemorate the martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal.
According to the DoTr Advisory, the free rides will start from 7 to 9 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.
This year's 126th Rizal Day celebration is themed "Rizal: Alaalang Iningatan, Yaman Ngayon ng Bayan."
"The free ride symbolizes that the MRT 3 is joining the whole nation in celebration of Rizal's martyrdom. May his sacrifices burn in our hearts and minds and continue to be an inspiration to making good deeds towards fellow Filipinos and to the nation," said MRT-3 General Manager Engr. Federico J. Canar, Jr.
Today's Rizal Day celebration in Luneta Park closes some portions of Roxas Boulevard.
According to the Manila Public Information Office, the northbound lane of Roxas Boulevard, starting from Katigbak Parkway to South Road will be closed to traffic starting at 4 a.m.
