The San Juan City government recently distributed educational aid to persons with disability students from kindergarten to college.
Implemented by the city government's Person with Disability Affairs Office, the program saw 300 PWD students from kinder to college receive P4,000 cash benefit from the city's own fund. A total of P1.2 million was allocated for the program.
Special Education students from Kabayanan Elementary School and Pinaglabanan Elementary School were given priority under this project. PDAO carefully vetted and screened the applicants before coming up with the final list of recipients.
The distribution of educational aid is done yearly by the San Juan City local government to provide extra support to students' schooling needs.
Mayor Francis Zamora announced that an additional P3,000 will be given to the students before the end of the school year in 2023, increasing PDAO's budget for the program from P1.2 million to P1.5 million next year.
The mayor also assured the recipients and their parents of the city's continued support for PWDs, not only for their education but also for their medical needs such as medical procedures, therapy, check-ups, and maintenance medicines.
To claim the financial aid, students or parents of students must present their PWD IDs and a valid ID. Minor claimants or those who are 17 and below and those who cannot physically receive the cash aid can have their parents or relatives claim on their behalf upon presentation of an authorization letter and a valid ID.
