The local government of Cainta, Rizal yesterday said it will buy more heavy equipment next year instead of hiring contractors to save costs.
"Next year, we will invest more on heavy equipment so we can save on clean-up costs," former mayor and now municipal administrator Keith Nieto said in a Facebook post.
Nieto said this heavy equipment such as backhoes and trucks is used to take out garbage from waterways such as creeks and canals.
"In my regular inspection, I noticed a volume of debris at Primark creek," he said.
"Good thing we have backhoes and ready trucks so we don't have to rely on contractors anymore to clean our waterways," the municipal administrator added.
Aside from the heavy equipment, the local government has also bought vector machines to be used for declogging drainages in the town.
