OLONGAPO CITY, Zambales — The Olongapo City Maritime Police Station arrested a fisherman wanted for illegal fishing in the town of Limay, Bataan on Monday.
Olongapo MPS chief Police Lt. Mariel Cuizon disclosed that its operatives arrested the suspect identified as William Bardaje, a 35-year-old fisherman from Barangay Lamao of Limay.
The apprehension of the suspect was through the efforts of the Olongapo MPS, Bataan MPS and the Limay MPS.
Bardaje is wanted for violating Section 88 par. 4 of Republic Act 8550 or the "Fishing Through Explosives, Noxious or Poisonous Substance, and/or Electricity" and was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by presiding Judge Roel G. Samonte of the MTC Third Judicial Region in Subic, Zambales.
The Olongapo City MPS verified the identity of the suspect via a tip from an informant, which was later confirmed by barangay officials of Barangay Lamao.
The suspect was brought to the Olongapo City MPS for proper disposition and documentation prior turn over to the court of origin including the affidavit of correction by the arresting officers to rectify the documents pertaining to the real identify of the accused.
