COTABATO CITY — Two individuals — including the son of Lutayan town Mayor Mayor Pax Mangudadatu in Sultan Kudarat province — were killed after still unidentified men opened fire at them at the Lutayan town's public market on Tuesday night.
Police identified the fatalities as Datu Naga Mangudadatu, son of the town mayor, and Dennis Hadji Daup, a resident of Mangudadatu town in Maguindanao del Sur province.
Capt. Leonel Delasan, Lutayan police chief, said that Mangudadatu was declared dead on arrival at the hospital in Koronadal City while his friend Daup expired while undergoing treatment.
Meantime, two individuals — identified as Watari Kalim and an 11-year-old boy, both residents of Barangay Paitan, Mangudadatu town — were injured by stray bullets.
Initial investigations showed that Mangudadatu was at his business establishment in the town market when shot by the suspects who were earlier seen onboard a pick-up vehicle.
