First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos on Wednesday joined the launching of the Department of Health's "Kalusugan mo ang Puso ng Pasko!" in Montalban, Rizal.
Araneta-Marcos and DoH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire led the program where free medical consultations, blood, and x-ray tests were provided to local residents.
Vergeire said the program is in line with the promise of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in bringing health services nearer, especially in the far-flung areas.
"One of the issues we are facing in terms of health is the 'access,' that is why through primary care services like these we can give people from rural areas a chance to have an access to health services," she said.
She said the activity is a promise of Universal Health Care that the national government will continue to bring closer to our fellow Filipinos across the country.
The DoH provided different health services such as free blood tests for cholesterol, blood sugar, and uric acid, and distributed urine dipstick test kits to residents who were screened for kidney or urinary tract infections.
Most of the participants were senior citizens, who were also given free medicines for their ailments.
