American fugitive collared

Published on:

Authorities arrested an American national in Taguig City following a complaint by a woman who said that she was physically hurt by the suspect.

Southern Police District director P/Brig. Gen. Kirby John Brion Kraft identified the suspect as Michael Tan, who is also believed to be a wanted person in America due to a pending case. He was apprehended inside his condominium unit in Bonifacio Global City.

Kraft said that prior to the arrest of the foreign national, a woman reported that she was experiencing maltreatment from her American partner.

This prompted Kraft to order his men to conduct an operation to arrest the said foreigner.

Initial investigations disclosed that Tan is included in the Interpol Red Notice and he is wanted in America due to attempted, willful, deliberate and premeditated murder.

"The US Embassy has coordinated with us wherein the said person has a pending case in their country. But before that he should face the charge here in the Philippines and after that we will conduct deportation proceedings," Kraft said.

The suspect is now detained at the Taguig Police station pending the filing of charges.
