A 24-year-old man was arrested by the authorities on Monday for alleged possession of a gun in a checkpoint along Alfonso Sandoval Avenue, Barangay Palatiw, Pasig City.

Pasig City police chief Col. Celerino Sacro Jr. identified the suspect only as alias JJ, a resident of Barangay Pinagbuhatan.

Sub-station 6 cops flagged down JJ aboard his Yamaha motorcycle for having excess passengers. He sped off with his passengers after failing to present a driver's license.

Pursuing policemen nabbed the suspect who yielded a loaded Ithaca caliber 45 pistol when frisked. He also failed to present documents for the weapon.

Aside from driving without a license and a host of other violations for driving away from a checkpoint, JJ will be charged with illegal possession of firearms.
