Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said the National Bureau of Investigation is looking into the cases also being probed by the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
The PNP-CIDG has reported a breakthrough in the cases following the release of the composite sketches of at least two suspects in the disappearance of the cockfighting aficionados.
Remulla said he has been personally contacting the NBI and the CIDG "and that, basically, we're not giving up on anything or anybody."
The DoJ last March created a panel of prosecutors to conduct a preliminary investigation on the criminal charges filed against nine individuals and several "John Does" earlier tagged in the disappearance.
CIDG chief P/Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee said the release of the suspects' sketches in the Laguna abduction may help in cracking the case.
"Based on the secret cellphone video showing two men and a handcuffed missing sabungero walking outside a cockfighting arena in Santa Cruz, Laguna on 28 April 2021, we now hold vital evidence," Lee said.
