Pacquiao braces for cold snap

Pacquiao braces for cold snap

Manny Pacquiao leaves for Seoul on Monday not just so he can drumbeat his 11 December special exhibition fight with Korean YouTube personality DK Yoo.

Another reason why Pacquiao is arriving early is for him to get acclimated with the local conditions.

According to Yonhap News Agency, a cold wave alert will be issued across the country on 30 November in preparation for a cold snap that will bear down on the peninsula in the next few days.

When Pacquiao blows into town, Seoul weather will be a high 3 degrees Celsius and low of -7 degrees Celsius.

The weather is going to be freezing from then onwards and by the time he faces Yoo on 11 December, people would be walking the streets garbed in thick bubble jackets as the mercury drops to -5 degrees on that day.

The Pacquiao-Yoo clash will take place at the Korea International Exhibition Centre in Goyang, a city just 16 kilometres from the Korean capital.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao is in the final phase of his preparation for his first ring return since being upset by Yordenis Ugas of Cuba in August last year in Las Vegas.

Training assistant Jonathan Penalosa said Pacquiao, who turns 44 on 17 December, has been working out as if he is training for a real fight in General Santos City the past two months.
