A 73-year-old man died while his wife, 68, was injured after they were bumped by two passing e-trikes while walking on the road in Ermita, Manila Monday morning.
The male victim who died while being brought to the Philippine General Hospital was identified as Jesus Garcia. His wife, Elizabeth, sustained injuries in various part of the body. The couple are residents of Altura Extension, Sta. Mesa Manila.
The two drivers, now facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and physical injuries, were identified as Paul Patrick Lacanaria, 34, and Alfredo Acedilla, 56, both resident of Port Area, Maynila.
Based on the investigation made by Vehicle Traffic Investigation Section of the Manila Police District, the incident occurred at around 9 a.m. along the eastbound lane of Kalaw Avenue right in front of Manila Doctors Hospital in Ermita, Manila.
The two victims were walking along the road when the speeding trikes hit them and fell to the ground.
The two drivers brought their two victims at the nearby public hospital but unfortunately Jesus was declared dead.
