A barangay official in Marawi City was collared by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency operatives in Quezon City on Saturday afternoon with 500 grams of suspected shabu.
If the haul tests positive as crystal meth, it would be P3.4 million worth of narcotics taken off the streets.
The police identified the arrested suspect as Mansawi Lala. He was nabbed in a drug sting along North Avenue in front of a mall in Barangay Bagong Pag-Asa.
Found in his possession was an identification card usually issued by the Department of the Interior and Local Government to barangay officials. Lala would be charged with drug pushing.
Meanwhile, one of the most wanted drug suspects in Quezon City was arrested in Barangay Bagumbayan over the weekend.
He was identified as Rogelio Castillo, 42, No. 1 on the drug watch list of the Quezon City Police District station 12. He allegedly had P94,792 worth of shabu when collared.
Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, QCPD director, said police initially accosted Castillo for asking people to place bets on an illegal numbers game.
When frisked, two sachets of suspected shabu were found on his person. He will be charged with violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
