ZAMBOANGA CITY — Three members of the Abu Sayyaf Group who actively participated in the kidnapping and encounters with soldiers in Basilan province have surrendered and turned over their high-powered firearms to the Naval Forces Western Mindanao.

NFWM Commander Rear Admiral Toribio Adaci, Jr. said yesterday the three former ASG fighters surrendered to the NFWM'S Naval Task Force 61 on Friday.

Adaci said the surrender of the three notorious ASG was facilitated by Navy SEALS and intelligence operatives of NTF-61.

They were identified as Bero Ankun alias Abu Bero, Ridwan Jikiri alias Abu Paruk and Abdulgani Radjuli alias Ganih.

According to Adaci the three turned over their high-powered firearms including two M16 rifles, ammunition magazines, and several rounds of M16 ammunition.

The three were trusted followers of ASG Sub Leaders Radzmil Janatul, Pasil Bayali, and the late ASG leader Isnilon Hapilon, Adaci revealed.

They were also involved in kidnapping activities led by ASG leader Abugao Bayali and Juhaiver Alamsirul alias Abu Kik, he said.

The military dossier also indicated that the three were also working secretly with foreign national terrorists in the province who know about manufacturing improvised explosive devices.
