Journalist Roy Mabasa, brother of Percy Lapid, confirmed suspended Bureau of Corrections chief Gerald Bantag as one of the masterminds behind his sibling's murder.

Asked on ANC by news anchor Karmina Constantino, "Reading between the lines, can you confirm to us that these two possible masterminds are former officials of the BuCor?", Mabasa replied, "Yes."

Other officials were involved, Mabasa added.

Constantino pressed on: "Yung isa pang binabanggit na BuCor official, nandiyan pa rin ba sa sistema or matagal nang wala?"

Said Mabasa: "Nandiyan pa yata sa sistema… What's surprising here, habang binabasa mo yung mga salaysay nila, may mga iba pang mga pangalan na lumalabas, especially dun sa pagkakapatay dun kay Villamor [the alleged middleman], may binanggit silang apat o limang pangalan doon…"
