Top police officials yesterday visited the largest cemeteries in the metropolis, including the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City, as part of preparations for this year's Undas.
Philippine National Police chief P/Gen. Rodolfo Azurin and National Capital Region Police Office acting director P/Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo first visited the tomb of former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. at the LNB.
They also visited the tomb of former president Fidel V. Ramos, as well as those of former generals in the various uniformed services.
A total of 11,666 personnel will be deployed in 128 cemeteries, columbaria and memorial park, 32 major thoroughfares, 133 transportation hubs, and 142 places of convergence.
Among them are 1,805 augmentation men and women from the Philippine Coast Guard, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection and MMDA.
A total of 5,492 are coming from advocacy groups and force multiplier units. The deployed personnel will be on duty until 4 November.
The Libingan ng mga Bayani serves as the final resting place of Philippine presidents, national heroes, national artists and military and police personnel.
Azurin also inspected international and domestic airports to ensure the safe travel of people to their respective destinations during the long weekend.
