Newly-minted Commission on Audit chairperson Atty. Gamaliel A. Cordoba has called on the agency's employees to "work as a single formidable unit" as he stressed the crucial role of auditors as partners of government in the economic and efficient use of public resources.
The CoA chief stressed that the agency's role is pivotal, with "resources must be spent by the government economically, efficiently and expeditiously" as the country recovers from the pandemic.
"The Commission should facilitate this by enabling agencies to do their jobs better. We will be partners in rebuilding our country. We will be enablers," said Cordoba, who formerly heads the National Telecommunications Commission.
He also enjoined employees to "bring out the best in each of them."
"We shall constantly strive to earn the public's trust as the Commission fulfills its mandates, upholding an honest, professional and dignified approach to all our daily tasks," Cordoba said.
He added that personnel welfare will also be the cornerstone of his administration, promising to lighten the load of overworked auditors by filling up vacant positions and training auditors to strengthen audit capability compliant with international standards.
Cordoba stressed that the CoA is a big family and that everyone is expected to help each other.
