Forget seeing the statue of St. Michael with the devil beaten down on his feet at the Tugatog Cemetery in Malabon City.

The rehabilitation of the cemetery is only 20 percent complete and so the local government of Malabon is not yet allowing visitors even those who have loved ones buried there.

Built in 1926, the cemetery hosts the grave of one Don Simeon Bernardo featuring the statue of St. Michael and the devil serving as a reminder that good will always triumph over evil.

Actually, the bodies at the cemetery are being exhumed to facilitate its rehabilitation, according to government officials interviewed by Daily Tribune.

They assured the families of those with loved ones buried in the cemetery that their exhumations are being done with the utmost respect and with the requisite proper labeling.

Daily Tribune visited the cemetery and saw that works there are still ongoing. Relatives of the dead were advised not to visit for health reasons.

The city government is rehabilitating the cemetery with inputs from the National Historical Commission.
