President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Tuesday welcomed former United Kingdom Prime Minister Tony Blair at the Malacañang Palace and exchanged views on global issues.
In a social media post, the Office of the Press Secretary said the two discussed various issues concerning public administration.
"Malugod na tinanggap ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos si dating United Kingdom Prime Minister Tony Blair na kasalukuyang Executive Chairperson ng Institute for Global Change. Sa kanilang pulong, tinalakay ang sari-saring paksa sa usapin ng pambublikong pamamahala," the OPS said.
The President met Blair in New York last month when he participated in the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
During this meeting, the two discussed initiatives to achieve lasting peace and sustainable development.
Blair serves as the current executive chairman of the Tony Blair Institute For Global Change, a non-profit organization that seeks to support political leaders and governments to build open, inclusive, and prosperous societies in a globalized world.
Also on Tuesday, the President presided over a Cabinet meeting and tackled with his members the government's shift to digital governance.
The OPS said the President discussed initiatives to automate government services as well as the implementation of health protocols and the easing of travel restrictions.
"President Ferdinand R. Marcos met with his Cabinet today to discuss his administration's plans, including the proposed digitalization to improve public services," the OPS said.
"The health protocols for travelers and the proposal to further ease travel restrictions in the country were also tackled," it added.
Office of the Press Secretary officer-in-charge and undersecretary Cheloy Garafil on Monday announced that the government will mandate the use of electronic arrival card, a scan-and-go system in the country's airports beginning 1 November.
The Bureau of Quarantine will require all inbound travelers to obtain an eArrival card within 72 hours before they depart from their country of origin.
Arriving travelers may secure an eArrival card by visiting the website onehealthpass.com.ph or by scanning the QR code indicated in the poster released by the Department of Health.
