A speeding Elf truck killed a motorcycle rider after running the latter over Saturday in Tondo, Manila.
Police identified the victim as Manuel Pepito Jr., a resident of Marilao, Bulacan, who died on the spot from severe head injuries.
The accident happened along the southbound lane of Mel Lopez Boulevard in front of the warehouse of the Department of Public Works and Highways.
Witnesses said the man fell from his motorcycle when it slipped in the muddy portion of the road. The truck right behind him driven by one Eric Madrid failed to stop in time and ran him over.
Madrid was arrested and charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide with his truck loaded with liquified petroleum gas impounded.
