The local government of Cainta, Rizal has built a courtroom for family-centered cases, former mayor and now municipal administrator Keith Nieto said yesterday.
"This is where cases on child abuse, rape of minors, custody cases and annulment of marriages are being heard," Nieto, a lawyer, said.
The courtroom, according to Nieto, is equipped with a playroom to make children comfortable before they appear in court to testify.
"It (the provision of family court) conforms to international standards so as not to increase children's trauma during trials," Nieto added.
Meanwhile, the local government has also opened another dialysis center in the town's public hospital.
According to Nieto, six additional seats were placed in one room on the third floor of the One Cainta Municipal Hospital.
"I made sure that the elevator was working for the patients who would be brought here. There are many patients who want to be enrolled in the facility. Everything is free here. We will not stop," he added.
