A 48-year-old construction worker was shot dead while having late lunch Sunday at a roadside eatery in Malate, Manila, police prober P/Ssg. Roderick Magpale of the Manila Police District said in a report.
Magpale identified the victim as Christopher Parayno, who sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was declared dead on arrival at the Ospital ng Maynila. The shooting happened at close to 2 p.m.
The gunman and the victim had a verbal entanglement before the shooting.
A security guard, alias "David," a resident of Pandacan, Manila, meanwhile, jumped into Manila Bay Sunday with his body retrieved hours later.
P/CMS Joseph Kabigting of the MPD homicide section said David's body was retrieved near the Sky Garden-Malate.
Retrieved from the body of the deceased was a notebook with a letter to his wife asking forgiveness for ending his life.
The wife "Jen" told the police that she and her husband had decided to part ways. She said her husband had no known enemies.
The body was brought to Cruz Funeral home for autopsy and safekeeping.
