Ringo Starr is down with Covid-19.
The report was initially refuted by his camp over the weekend — after the 82-year-old rock star's tour stops with his band at Michigan's Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo and at Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake, Minnesota were postponed.
An earlier statement from his handlers said Starr was hoping he could carry on, but his condition has affected his voice, hence the
last-minute cancellation of the shows.
A rescheduled date has yet to be announced.
In June, dates of the Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band's North American tour were also postponed after members Edgar Winter and Steve Lukather tested positive for Covid-19.
"Ringo hopes to resume as soon as possible and is recovering at home. As always, he and the All Starrs send peace and love to their fans and hope to see them back out on the road soon," a statement said.
Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band includes Winter, Lukather, Men at Work's Colin Hay, and Average White Band's Hamish Stuart.
Starr turned 82 by hosting his annual Peace and Love party in Beverly Hills. He and wife Barbara Bach also marked 41 years in marriage on 27 April.
He has three children, Zak, 56; Jason, 54; and Lee, 51, all from his marriage to Maureen Starkey, which ended in 1975.
