Press Sec. Trixie Cruz Angeles has not been holding media briefings for almost a week now, leaving reporters assigned to Malacañang at a loss and wondering what has happened to her.
For the past several days, media members have been playing a waiting game with the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) at the Malacañang Press Center, anticipating the regular advisory on press conferences.
But the reporters would leave the center late in the afternoon, past their deadlines, with nothing, not a word from the OPS.
Angeles has not replied to messages or answered phone calls from reporters—except for one occasion, when she forwarded a press release from the Justice Department to Daily Tribune.
The last time Angeles talked to reporters was on 27 September, two days after President Bongbong Marcos' trip to New York where he addressed the 77th United Nations General Assembly.
On that day, she announced the appointment of retired Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin as Executive Secretary to replace the resigned Vic Rodriguez.
In New York, Angeles drew flak for erroneously claiming that US President Joe Biden accepted only Marcos' invitation for a meeting out of over 40 other requests.
She was unaware that Biden also met with United Kingdom Prime Minister Liz Truss, French President Emmanuel Macron, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida following the UN General Assembly.
