CASTILLEJOS, ZAMBALES — Two new school buildings were recently turned over by the Department of Public Works and Highways to the Balaybay Resettlement Elementary School here.
According to District Engineer Rosbe S. Dizon, the two school buildings have a total of 14 classrooms
Dizon and key officials and personnel from the Zambales 2nd District Engineering Office attended the blessing and inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed learning facilities.
The official cited that the projects were completed on time despite construction challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic and it addressed BRES' need for additional learning spaces that could accommodate the school's growing student population.
"Students and teachers will now have a safer and more spacious study space as the new school buildings are ready for use now that face-to-face classes have resumed," Dizon stated.
Each building is equipped with separate toilets for boys, girls, and those with physical disabilities; storage room, generator set, two water pumps, two sets of water tanks and one cistern tank.
BRES Principal Editha L. Sebastian, on the other hand, expressed her gratitude for the new school buildings. She said the 814 students enrolled in BRES will no longer endure the shifting schedule system brought about by the lack of available classrooms.
"Natutuwa ako dahil sa wakas ang pangarap ng mga magulang, guro at ng Barangay Council ng Balaybay Resettlement ay natupad na," Sebastian enthused.
Castillejos Mayor Jeffrey D. Khonghun, School Division Superintendent Romeo M. Alip, and other high-ranking members of the Department of Education Zambales also graced the said occasion.
The projects have a combined allocation of P65.99 million funded under the 2021 General Appropriations Act in convergence with DepEd.
