The local government of Angono, Rizal has reminded residents to strictly follow environmental ordinances.
"We still have a few who have been accosted and given tickets with fines for their violation," the town's municipal environment and natural resources office said.
"Our team is also currently going around barangays to gather data on each house regarding proper waste disposal and collection," it added.
Littering is one of the major causes of clogging of canals and other waterways, causing flooding and diseases, the office said.
Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon and her father, former mayor and now Vice Mayor Gerry Calderon, have been pushing proper waste disposal among their constituents.
