A bullet in the head snuffed the life of a 51-year-old barangay tanod who was shot at a close range inside a sari-sari store along Benita Street in Gagalangin Tondo, Manila.
Homicide investigators identified the victim as Marvin Martinez. Manila Police District chief P/Brig. Gen. Andre Perez Dizon has ordered a manhunt on the suspect identified as Vello Bacha, a resident of Paliparan, Dasmariñas Cavite.
P/Lt. Dennis Turla, chief of the MPD homicide section, said the assailant entered Martinez's store and residence at around 7 a.m. Friday and engaged in small talk.
According to a witness, the discussion between Martinez and Bacha became heated with the latter shouting and then shooting the victim.
Martinez was rushed to the Ospital ng Tondo where he was declared dead on arrival. Bacha quickly escaped from the crime scene, according to the witness.
The body of the victim was brought to the Cruz Funeral homes for autopsy and safekeeping.
