A contract provision with Gilas Pilipinas and a commitment with NorthPort's team in the PBA had prevented William Navarro from becoming the latest Pinoy cage player to see action overseas.
One of the remnants of the young crew who played for Tab Baldwin's Gilas team last year, Navarro was trying to pursue a career in the Korean Basketball League with the Seoul Samsung Thunders, but he was denied access by FIBA, the world's basketball governing body, to transfer and play overseas.
Navarro is currently under contract with Gilas and part of the agreement was to release him to NorthPort, the team which selected the player in the special draft for national team players last year.
The 6-foot-5 forward was selected second in the special draft.
