The Bureau of Corrections is seeking to fill at least 1,316 vacant positions for corrections officers for deployment in its seven prison facilities nationwide and disclosed that it has issued a "waiver for height and age requirement/s may be granted to applicants belonging to the cultural communities."

The agency said that all applicants for corrections officers should submit their documents personally to its headquarters in Muntinlupa City or to the offices of its prison facilities.

BuCor's prison facilities are the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City, the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City, Davao Prison and Penal Farm in Davao del Norte, Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm in Palawan, Leyte Regional Prison in Abuyog, Leyte, Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm in Occidental Mindoro, and San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm in Zamboanga City.

Applicants for corrections officers should be Filipino citizens, of good moral character, have a baccalaureate degree from a recognized learning institution, and have the appropriate civil service eligibility.

They should not have been dishonorably discharged or dismissed for cause from previous employment as well as not convicted by final judgment of an offense or crime involving moral turpitude.

Male applicants should be at least 1.57 meters in height, while female applicants should be at least 1.52 meters tall.

It said it will accept applicants who are 40 years old pursuant to Republic Act 10575, the Bureau of Corrections Act of 2013.

Meantime, the BuCor said that applicants above 36 years of age will have to sign a waiver agreeing that they may not be able to qualify for the full retirement benefits afforded to uniformed officers of the BuCor.

It also said "applicants must submit their application personally to Recruitment Office, National Headquarters, New Bilibid Prison, Muntinlupa City for applicants of National Capital Region and other nearby provinces around Luzon."
