President Bongbong Marcos on 18 September left for the United States to attend the 77th United Nations General Assembly in New York, where he will likewise grace bilateral meetings with other leaders and bond with Filipino communities.
"The UN is where countries of the world congregate to discuss the most pressing challenges… Thus, it is important we participate… to make certain our voices are heard. I will be delivering our national statement on the 20th of September," Marcos said in his departure speech.
The national statement contains the country's expectations of the UN, as well as the country's contribution to strengthening the international system.
The UNGA is Marcos' first engagement with the intergovernmental organization, and his third official overseas trip following his recent state visits to Indonesia and Singapore earlier this month.
